Chief Ehrmantraut joined Polk County Fire District No.1 as the Division Chief of EMS and Logistics in 2022. He brings with him 17 years of experience as a public safety professional including serving as a private and public single role paramedic, EMS lieutenant, firefighter, and fire captain. During his tenure in those roles, he consistently sought opportunities to improve systems, invest in others, and enjoyed serving the community. He is also an advocate at the state level for the progression of EMS delivery.
Chief Ehrmantraut is passionate about his professional responsibility as a perpetual student. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Emergency Medical Services Administration from Columbia Southern University and a Master of Public Administration from American Public University. He also holds numerous fire and EMS related certifications including several awarded from the National Fire Academy.
He lives in Salem with his wife, Carilyn, and his daughter, Emma. He and his family are active with the Shriners and volunteer their energies towards other worthy community causes. During their free time, his family enjoy farmers’ markets, group game nights, reading, and travel.
